Symbiosis
A symbiotic relationship, or symbiosis, is any type of a close and long-term biological interaction between two biological organisms of different species, termed symbionts.
When two organisms benefit from each other, the symbiosis is called mutualism. Symbiosis can be obligatory, which means that one, or both of the symbionts depend on each other for survival. This is all based on fysical survival. But is there such a thing as emotional symbiosis? Isn’t love a form of symbiosis? We need companionship, social interaction to feel good. Without the connection to another human being, there is emptiness. And after all…Broken heart syndrome is a real thing.

Loyalty
Why doesn’t the falcon fly away and choose freedom? What exactly is it that leads to such a behavior that when given the opportunity to be free and never look back, the falcon still returns to the hand of the falconer. Is it loyalty, a form of friendship, is it dependency or simply not knowing any better, being held in
confinement. I really don’t understand this but I would prefer to think it is loyalty.
But then again, who am I.

When two lives come together in love and slowly become one.
Beauty lies beneath the surface
In my search for beauty in this challenging time, I came to the conclusion that almost nothing what you see on social media is real. People tend to optimize their appearance with make-up, erase flaws by using filters or alter reality by using a simple app. A persons real beauty is not to be found on the outside. Real beauty comes from within, from the warmth and energy of one’s personality.
Don’t be blinded or misled by the surface. Dare to look beyond..

Going Side-Ways
Going sideways” or as they also say “going crabwise ”
Sometimes, in order to achieve ones goals, taking the most obvious and most travelled road, is not always the right choice. It takes courage to try a different approach.
One might have to remain patient sometimes or dare to
think outside the box. It may just turn out that you have to move sideways in order to get ahead, instead of going straightforward.

Infinity
Symbols are signs that stand for something else. They have a deeper and more complex meaning. They carry symbolic meaning that can differ in different contexts. In our current society there are lots of symbols. For instance in science, religion or traffic but also as a logo for a company. The examples are endless. They help us because everyone understands and knows what they stand for.
The spiral is an old symbol and can be found in most ancient
cultures. A spiral is infinit and was probably a sign for growth,
for birth and re-birth. A spiral is cyclic as life itself; everything repeats itself. Like life, a spiral means constant change.

Resurrection 2
This female peacock is a reflection of my admiration for all women above a certain age.
Yes, we are still competent, still ambitious and also beautifull. I see my friends and other women surrounding me making life changing choices at this point in their life. No longer required to take care of her children, she chooses to rediscover herself.
Pick up studying, starting a business carreer or making other changes in her life; She just keeps on blooming...

Hope 2023
“To want something to happen or be true “
But Hope is much more than just wishful thinking. Hope is a life tool which helps you to become more resilient, more confident and which creates self empowerment.
We, as humans, need hope to be able to go from one day to the next, despite the circumstances. Without hope there is no life.

Perseverance
A Koi stands for strenght, wisdom, perseverance and good luck. The history of Koi fish is believed to originate from eastern Asia, in the Black, Caspian, Aral Seas and China. But now they are completely embedded in the full eastern Asian culture. The legend surrounding the carp is symbolic for ultimate perseverance and strenght. To keep on going eventhough it seems to be pointless. In the legend a group of onehundred Koi tried to swim upstream
the Yellow river and up the falls at Dragongate. Only one succeeded and he was transformed into a dragon as a
reward.

Taking control
There are moments in your life when you suddenly realise that
enough is enough; from now on I will take control. But it requires
guts, perseverance and a mind of your own. Like the griffin rules
heaven and earth, I want to take back control off my own life and
decide where to go, what to do. With it’s powerful expression and
selfconsiusness my griffin is my worlds guardian.

Troy
Greek mythology was an important part of my ‘Ancient Greek’ curriculum in high-school. The intriguing story of the beautiful Helen, who was kidnapped by Paris and taken to Troy, induced the Trojan war which was one of the most important events in Greek mythology.
Menelaos wanted his wife back and send his brother Agamemnon to conquer Troy and bring her back. The city fell to the ruse of the Trojan horse after being besieged for 10 years. In my imagination the Greek build the horse with its hidden chamber from materials from the thousand ships, which sailed to Troy. Boards, poles, bolds and chains formed the cunning present, which through an ingenious plan, led to the fall of Troy.

Euphoria
“A feeling or state of intense excitement and happiness. One would think that being euphoric all your life would be something to wish for. But we need the bad times to remind us of the good things we have in life. To help make us stronger, better. To reflect and to grow. There should be a healthy mix of good and bad times to be able to become the best version of yourself.
Fly with me
I have embraced a few beliefs as life unfolded along the way.
Pura Vida (enjoying life to the fullest) is one of them. Stepping out of your comfort zone to see what is out there, is another. I truly believe that boundaries exist only in your mind. Trying to step outside these lines of what is believed to be “normal” or “accepted” is not always easy and by doing exactly that, my life became so much more satisfying than I could ever have imagined.
So why not fly when you are a fish or swim when you are a bird?
Fierce
Man against nature, nature against man.... Unfortunately not always an honest fight. The lion is said to be the king of the jungle. He only kills if he is hungry, He doesn’t seem to feel the need to kill just for fun. Man on the other hand does kill just for the fun of it. When the famous lion Cecil was killed in 2015, his death started a worldwide discussion about shooting wildlife in general, just for pleasure.
The death of this fierce animal though wasn’t complety useless. His name will always be associated with the question whether or not killing an animal for sports should be allowed.
Note: The sculpture consists of three seperate parts which should be attached directly to the wall

Perfect Imperfections
The beauty in nature is perfect. I can try to imitate this in my work but that’s a mission impossible. However.. my little imperfections are what make my sculptures unique. They contribute to their beauty and uniqueness. Like my flowers we start small and hope to grow to our full potential during life. As a human being being perfectly imperfect also means being rigorously honest and embracing one’s flaws and mistakes.
These things make us even more perfectly imperfect.

Equilibrium
“Equilibrium” ; a state in which opposing forces or influences are balanced. Balance being the keyword. All of nature can be explained by the manifestation of complementary opposites. No darkness without light, no warmth without cold, no breathing in without breathing out. Without balance there is chaos. Same goes for mankind. Finding ones inner peace is a constant process of give and take and therefore accepting ones limitations.

Saehrimnir
The question “Could you make a sculpture for our new office” resulted in this sculpture. This particular company is active in the
agricultural sector and supports producers to increase the efficiency by means of data management and data analysis. More and better with less! That’s my interpretation. The industrial look of the office and the importance of the cyclic process in agricultural production, led me to Saehrimnir.
This magical boar from the Nordic mythology is killed and eaten each night by the gods in Valhalla. After Saehrimnir is being eaten, the beast is brought back alive from the remains to provide sustenance for the following day. Each night this boar gets slaughtered and eaten again, it can’t get more efficient.
The boar is a beautiful metaphor for what this company and the agricultural sector stand for.

Capriole
Capriole is the name of an exercise in horse training in the Spanish Riding School. It is a movement in which the horse jumps completely off the ground, kicks its legs out horizontally in the air and then lands again on the same spot.
It was used on the battlefield to get rid of soldiers behind the horse and so the horse became a weapon. Now it shows the beautifull collaboration between rider and horse.
Note: The sculpture can either hang from the ceiling, be placed on the wall or stand alone on a pedestal.

The lost ones: Kudu
Way back when men was living in caves, hunting was a means to an end: food so they could live and skin so they could keep warm. Through time mankind has found a different reason to hunt, killing as a sport. Killing for pleasure and posting photos of this ‘victory’ on social media. As a former veterinarian this goes against all I believe in. By reconstructing the original skulls of these impressive creatures I restore their beauty and give them back their dignity and respect.
Note: The sculpture should be attached directly to the wall

Let’s dance
My love for dancing, including classical ballet, originates in
my childhood. The combination of beauty, elegance and
dance is mostly seen during the reign of Louis XIV. The
Sun king was a skilled ballet dancer. He even performed
in a ballet written for his own wedding. For me dancing
means being myself and allowing the music to take over.
To just be.
This sculpture is an invitation to dance, an escape into a
different world where beauty and elegance rule.
Focus
In the astonishing world of Cirque du Soleil anything seems possible. Most amazing is the contradiction between the impossibility of the movements and the apparent ease in which they are executed. Important are skills like strength, flexibility, balance and focus.
Animals have their own specific beauty in both expression and movements. In animals I often see similarities with the things that amaze me in Cirque du Soleil.
Without utmost concentration, focus on the goal, it is impossible to reach the highest level. My Focus is ready to go and
every muscle in it’s body is tightened.
Patient but focused it awaits the right moment to act.

‘behind closed doors’
Sometimes I wonder why people choose to stay in a situation which is clearly far from ideal. What is this need to furfill the expectations of the outside world, the hunger for their acceptances, their admiration.

We all celebrate Christmas, send Valentine cards or go to New years parties. These traditions can bring joy to some and stress to others. Being alone at Christmas or having to sit down at a family dinner and pretend like everything is perfect. Getting no Valentines card for the fifth year in a row, sitting at home alone on New Years Eve. Society tells us these traditions are part of a successful and happy life. We can choose not to participate and be happier nevertheless but then we will have to defend our choice to the rest of the world.

Souplesse
Souplesse means suppleness, flexibility, agility.
These are important qualities for a horse competing in dressage. From personal experience I can tell that what seems to come so easily in fact means really hard work.
The unique collaboration between horse and rider is more than the simpel sum of their talents. Magnificant accomplishments can only be archieved thanks to the unique bond between the two.
